The London 2012 Festival is the finale of the Cultural Olympiad and was the biggest festival the UK had ever seen. From 21 June - 9 September 2012, artists from all over the world came together in celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. SHOWTIME is one element of the London 2012 Festival.

CultureMix became part of this fantastic event offering Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra for seven SHOWTIME dates in London boroughs. The fifteen piece orchestra toured Barnet, Ealing, Newham, Hackney, Harrow with two days at the BT London Live site in Victoria Park Tower Hamlets.

For the tour the orchestra prepared a musical show depicting the journey of steel pan through the repertoire. The 'TASPO to RASPO' show featured 'TASPO's Story', a calypso written by original TASPO musician Sterling Betancourt MBE who pioneered steel pan music in the UK in the 1950's

To celebrate the London 2012 Olympics the repertoire included 'Chariots of Fire' and Lord Kitchener's calypso 'Crawford' written in honour of Trinidad and Tobago's first Olympic Gold medallist Hasely Crawford who won the 100m final in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.

With musicians aged from twelve upwards RASPO wowed audiences with their musical finesse which culminated in an energetic finale at Victoria Park.
